Come Out With Pride Announces 20th Anniversary

Come Out With Pride, Inc. was established in 2004 by The Metropolitan Business Association, now known as The Pride Chamber. It all began with a dedicated group of individuals who shared a common objective: Creating a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community. The Pride Chamber, a local organization committed to supporting LGBTQIA+ businesses, and GLBSU, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Straight United student organization at the University of Central Florida, joined forces to make a positive impact in their community. The foundation of this collaboration stemmed from a shared vision of empowerment, advocacy, and support for LGBTQIA+ individuals. The Pride Chamber had been actively working to promote LGBTQAI+ inclusivity in the business world, while GLBSU was striving to create a welcoming and supportive environment for LGBTQIA+ students on campus. This partnership was a perfect fit, as both organizations recognized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving their objectives. The Pride Chamber and GLBSU united to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and celebrate diversity. In commemoration of National Coming Out Day, the inaugural Come Out With Pride event took place on October 9th, 2005, in an area near the Orange County Regional History Center and the Heritage Square Courtyard.

"We're thrilled to celebrate our 20th Anniversary," said Tatiana Quiroga, Executive Director of Come Out With Pride. "And, we are grateful for our brave and fearless founders, who conceived Come Out With Pride, forever leaving their mark on the LGBQIA+ community in Central Florida."

Due to the dedication and passion of volunteers, Come Out With Pride experienced significant growth and relocated to Lake Eola Park in 2007. The move attracted larger partners, including organizations that cater to both the LGBTQIA+ community and straight allies. With its scenic surroundings and vibrant community, Lake Eola Park has provided the ideal setting for our Pride celebration to flourish and expand. The small gathering has since transformed into a large-scale festival, drawing over 220,000 attendees in 2023, and becoming one of the Southeast's largest single-day Pride celebrations in the country. For two decades, Come Out With Pride has been a symbol of unity, resilience, and a celebration of queer joy. As they mark their 20th anniversary, their commitment to inclusivity and community remains strong.

"Pride is more than just a party; it's a celebration of self-expression, love, and acceptance. We want everyone to feel empowered to be their true selves and to celebrate their identity in a safe and inclusive environment, today and every day," added Quiroga. "We know that Pride saves lives!"
