Celebs Mourn the Death of Out Comedian Leslie Jordan

Celebrities took to social media in the hours after openly gay comedian Leslie Jordan died in a car crash to express their grief and praise the funnyman's talents, wit, and kindness.

CBS reports that Leslie, who died Oct. 26 at the age of 67, was hailed by "Will & Grace co-star Sean Hayes as "one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure of working with. Everyone who ever met him, loved him."

Hayes went on to say that Jordan was "A unique talent with an enormous, caring heart."

"My heart is broken," Hayes posted.

Megan Mullally, who also co-starred with Jordan on the long-running hit comedy, took to Instagram to say that Jordan "was flawlessly funny, a virtuoso of comedy. his timing, his delivery, all apparently effortless."

Mullally added, "you can't get any better than that. and what a friendly, fun-loving, dear person".

Co-stars from other projects also weighed in. Out actor Cheyenne Jackson and Mayim Bialik, both castmates of Jordan's in the series "Call Me Kat," shared their stories.

Saying he was a "forever fan" of Jordan, Jackson wrote on Instagram, "He was my mentor, my sober brother, and my unofficial comedy coach. (I paid him in complements, not actual cash)"

"He hated that we couldn't tell naughty jokes on set anymore so we decided that we'd be each other's blue material safe space," Jackson added. "And no matter how filthy a joke would be that I'd tell him, he'd giggle and then tell me one 10 times dirtier."

Bialik posted, "They broke the mold when they made Leslie Jordan. He was a dear mentor and a beloved friend. I will miss him so much – it's unimaginable that he's gone."

Celebrity friends as well as colleagues added their own tributes.

Rosie O'Donnell said in an Instagram post that she was "just heartbroken" and wrote, "💔 RIP my funny friend"

Bill Eichner posted a shout out to the openly gay actor and writer, tweeting, "Leslie Jordan. What an angel. Gone much too soon. RIP. ❤️🌈"

RuPaul's Drag Race sent out similar sentiments in a tweet that read, "Thank you for the countless laughs and for sharing your spirit with us all. 💘"

Openly gay "Star Trek" icon George Takei tweeted that he was
"stunned at the death of Leslie Jordan, who delighted us with his many roles on television and film."

"Leslie, we are heartbroken at your loss and will miss your mirth and your inimitable spirit."

"Wonder Woman" star Lynda Carter recalled the comedian's pandemic posts, which gave his career a stratospheric boost.

"Leslie Jordan put a smile on the faces of so many, especially with his pandemic videos," Carter tweeted.

"What a feat to keep us all laughing and connected in such difficult times... It feels so cruel that this could happen to such a beautiful soul."

As previously reported, Jordan died in a car crash in Los Angeles. Reports said that Jorden may have suffered some sort of "medical emergency" behind the wheel.

Variety reports that "Call Me Kat," now in its third season, will "pause production" in the wake of the tragedy.

"Since the comedy series debuted in 2021, Jordan has held the series regular role of Phil, the head baker at Kat's (Mayim Bialik) cafe, who is newly single in Season 1," Variety detailed.

"In Season 3 Episode 7, which is currently set to air on Nov. 10, he gets his first love interest, a man named Jalen played by John Griffin in a guest spot."
