Numerous celebrities, from Oprah and Michelle Obama to Chris Evans and Andy Cohen, are urging people to get out and vote. So why is Chris Pratt catching a Twitter backlash for his "Get Out to Vote" Instagram posted last week?

"The actor, 41, shared an Instagram post last week to encourage fans to vote for his movie 'Onward' at this year's People's Choice Awards – seemingly poking fun at the many celebrity-endorsed voting PSAs," writes Page Six.

"The heroes before us did not spill their blood only to have their sacrifices wasted by your apathy," he writes in his post. "The upcoming 2020 People's Choice Awards is the most consequential vote in the history of mankind times a million infinity."

"Vote for #Onward for family movie of the year," he concluded. "Or else. You WILL die. No hyperbole. Click the link in my bio. Let your voice be heard."

It wasn't long before he was called "insensitive" and an example of his white privilege in social media.

"I get this is supposed to be a cute little joke but it comes off as really insensitive," wrote one person Page Six reports. "The upcoming election is really important and everyone should vote and for you to try and take that and turn it into an ad for your movie is low."

Another user tweeted, "Chris Pratt said the election does not concern me because I am a white privileged man, instead vote for my movie so I can get more awards."

But others, according to the Daily Mail, were more supportive of the Marvel star.

"Geez. Everyone really has lost their sense of humor. This is just a lighthearted post and there's nothing wrong with that. No one's going to take the election less seriously because Chris Pratt posted about the People's Choice Awards," writes one.

And another wrote, "People literally are so sensitive about everything, grow a backbone and take a joke. It's madness."

"Pratt, who recently welcomed his first child with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, has not revealed who he will be voting for on November 3 but he is known to be conservative leaning," writes the Daily Mail.

Asked about the political divide in 2017 by Men's Journal, Pratt said:
''You're either the red state or the blue state, the left or the right. Not everything is politics. And maybe that's something I'd want to help bridge because I don't feel represented by either side."
He did get support from a Fox News celebrity:

But others were critical:
