Animated Lesbian Moms Prompt One Million Moms to Spank Disney Channel

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The ongoing battle between the Disney Channel and One Million Moms continued this week when the media watchdog arm of the anti-LGBT hate group American Family Association launched an "action alert" over the inclusion of a family with two mommies on the kid's channel's popular animated series "Doc McStuffins."

"Many have found the animated program, Doc McStuffins,' to be a clean show; 1MM has recently found that this to be no longer true," read an email to followers sent by 1MM president and fonder Monica Cole. "In a first for Disney Junior, an upcoming episode of "Doc McStuffins" airing this Saturday morning, August 5, 2017, will feature a family with two moms. The preview clearly states 'the doll family' consists of two females and two children. One mother and child get separated from the other mother and child, but reunite in the end with a family hug."

Cole pointed to the episode's subversive message as the work of Chris Nee, the show's executive producer and creator.

"Chris Nee, is lesbian and has stated in an online interview that she will instill subtle messages about sexual orientation into the storyline," Cole wrote.

"Controversial topics and lifestyle choices should be left up to the parents to discuss and Disney Junior should not introduce this to young children," Cole continued. "Just because an issue may be legal or because some are choosing a lifestyle doesn't make it morally correct. Disney should stick to entertaining and providing family-friendly programming instead of pushing an agenda."

Cole is encouraging 1MM's 90,342 followers to contact Disney and request that the episode gets pulled prior to its August 5 airdate.

This week's action alert isn't the first time Cole has gone toe-to-toe with the Disney Channel. It isn't even the first time Cole has raised an issue with "Doc McStuffins."

In 2015, Cole was similarly outraged over (what she perceived to be) a potty-mouthed stuffed dragon toy on the program. Prior to that, her group launched a boycott of the channel over a storyline involving lesbian parents on an episode of the cable network's program "Good Luck Charlie." Her group also regularly protests Walt Disney World for allowing the unofficial Gay Days event to take take place yearly in Orlando, Florida.
