A man who police allege attempted to pour hydrochloric acid into a lube dispenser at a gay sex club in Sydney, Australia appeared in court Tuesday, the U.K. newspaper The Metro reports.

Authorities say Hengky Irawan, 62, tried to pour the acid into the dispensers at Aarows sex club on Aug. 27 in Syndney's Rydalmere neighborhood. Officials say Irawan entered the club, which bills itself as "Sydney's gay and bi social club," as a patron but officers caught him after an alarm on the dispensers went off and alerted security at the 24-hour club.

When he came out of Parramatta Local Court, Irawan hid behind a yellow envelope, the Daily Mail notes.

Irawan is charged with administering poisons with intent to cause pain, entering a licensed premies to commit an indictable offense and intentionally damaging the dispenser, The Metro reports.

The suspect's lawyer asked for a six-week adjournment so Irawan can undergo a psychiatric evaluation. He will return to court on Nov. 1.
