When Korean television network SBS broadcasted "Bohemian Rhapsody" on February 13 they deleted two scenes, reported the Korean Herald that featured two men kissing.

Their reason, they claim, did not have to do with the content, but with their length and they would have done the same with a straight scenes. "The kissing scenes are very long. For the blurred out scene, it was while music was playing so we couldn't take it out."

Adding, "We didn't have any special intention in editing. Even if it were a kissing scene between a man and a woman, if the scene is too risque or continues for a long period of time, making us feel that it could be uncomfortable for the families watching together, we would have edited similarly."

In response a Korean gay couple came up with the "Bohemian Kiss Challenge," posting a video of themselves kissing and asking others to do so. "SBS (Seoul Broadcasting System) broadcast the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and deleted the scenes where two men kiss. The Bohemian Kiss Challenge is a challenge that shows that every kiss is equal, regardless of gender and sexual orientation," said YouTubers Backpack and Kim, known collectively as Mango Couple," they wrote on YouTube.

The couple told VICE that "don't usually kiss hard on YouTube, but we did it as a way of protesting against the censorship."

Kim, who came up to the challenge, added: "Normally, a lot of people are not used to or are afraid to participate in human rights movements, so I wanted to make it simple and easy to join in on, like in the form of a challenge, so that anyone can raise their voice and have some fun while doing it."

To participate is "quite easy" said Vice. "All people need to do is take a photo or video of themselves kissing and post it on their social media accounts with the hashtags #BohemianKissChallenge and #All_Kisses_Are_Equal."

"It doesn't matter if you're not in a relationship. If you're single, you can still join this challenge by kissing the back of your hand or something like that," the couple said. It's also open to all kinds of relationships, not just LGBTQ ones.
