It starts with seeds and soil. Grown organically in America, those seeds soon become big, healthy hemp plants. Through harvest, purification, distillation and precise formulations by experts at Houston-based EVO3 Oils, those plants become CBD oils and rubs that can improve aches, pains, and even chronic disorders from insomnia to inflammation.

But the story of this transformation isn't magic. Rooted in science and chemistry, EVO3 Oils is an industry leader in producing some of the best full-spectrum CBD oils, CBD products for anxiety, and even CBD for dogs.

This is the story of transformation — from bud to bottle.

Beginning with Buds

Of the countless hemp strains, EVO3 Oils originate from Red Kross and T2 varieties. They were chosen because they're naturally low in THC, the psychoactive agent in cannabis. That's because EVO3's oils and topicals are strictly CBD, the short name for non-psychoactive cannabidiol, which is abundant in Red Kross and T2. Their flowers yield as much as 16 percent CBD, but only trace amounts of THC.

From farms in Arkansas, EVO3 Executive Vice President and Master Cannabinologer Cristina Madruga oversees the harvested hemp. If it passes testing for safety and high-CBD/low-THC potency, she and her team begin processing the crop by extracting "crude hemp" to distill.

Scientifically speaking, cool things happen next.

"Distillation separates the cannabinoids from the rest of the plant matter, like chlorophyll and fatty acids, leaving a very potent, high-concentration full-spectrum distillate," Madruga explains.

It may sound like a rainbow, but in this case, "full-spectrum" means that the distillate contains all of the naturally occurring cannabinoids (including trace THC molecules) in the hemp plant. It's the base of EVO3's full-spectrum oils.

"Some of the distillate goes through further purification, where all of the cannabinoids are separated from each other and the THC is removed," says Madruga. "So pure CBD goes into our broad-spectrum products."

Bottling the Best

Once the super-concentrated distillate is ready, EVO3 takes an extra step for a more complete CBD oil. It involves organic compounds called terpenes.

Though terpenes are commonly associated with cannabis plants, you also may know them from the familiar aromas and flavors they lend to lavender, basil, cinnamon, orange, pine needles, and many other plants.

Even better, terpenes bring health benefits that can help improve memory, relieve stress, and alleviate anxiety and pain.

But during the distillation process, the original hemp terpenes are lost. So Madruga has formulated EVO3's unique terpene blends that match the original molecules in Red Kross and T2 plants.

She then "rebuilds" the oils, with "the added terpene blend to bring our CBD oils closer to the original profile of the whole plant," she says. "We tend to get much more out of whole plants because our bodies process them more efficiently."

It's easy to appreciate the simplicity of EVO3's formula: Each bottle contains CBD distillate (full- or broad-spectrum), the terpene blend, and the neutral "carrier oil" MCT (extracted from coconut oil).

Better still, "terpenes help CBD enter the bloodstream more efficiently, increasing absorption," says Madruga.

"A good example of how this works is eating an orange versus taking a vitamin C capsule," she says. "Even though the capsule says it contains 1000 mg of vitamin C, your body will not absorb it all, and much of it is eliminated as waste. But when you eat an orange, all of the different nutrients work together to give your body a natural boost, and a much higher percentage of the vitamins in the orange are absorbed. Plus, the other nutrients have their own added health benefits."

By comparison, many other CBD brands on the market are built only from CBD distillate, which lacks terpenes and other nutrients.

When it comes to CBD oils that harness all the benefits of hemp's natural nutrients, EVO3 is, you might say, the complete package.
