ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" has had a long-LGBTQ history. "Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) will always be one of the ABC medical drama's best ships. Isaiah Washington was famously fired for using a homophobic slur on set. Over the past 15 years, Grey's has tackled everything from Don't Ask, Don't Tell to marriage equality," writes the website Refinery.

But how does a show long on sex deal with sex during COVID? "A scene during Thursday night's (12 November) episode saw Dr. Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) and his ex-boyfriend Dr. Nico Kim (Alex Landi) get intimate in a supply closet," writes Pink News.

"Can we leave my mask on?" Schmitt asked when Kim offered him a little "stress relief" from the pressures of doctoring through a pandemic.

"That's not what I want to take off," Kim responded.

The "stress relief" occurs off-screen. "All viewers were shown was Schmitt's face — which was self-explanatory," adds Pink News.

Borelli opened up to E! Entertainment about what's in store in the couple's relationship.

"As for the state of Levi and Nico's romantic future, Borelli said there's always a possibility that the former couple could rekindle their relationship. But with COVID and other external factors taking precedent, don't expect it to happen just yet.

"They broke up and then the pandemic hits, and Nico is still there and I think we're going to see both of them just like we all are in real life trying to navigate a relationship in this new world," he said. "I think it brings a lot to light in terms of what's important to a person but then it also makes things a lot more difficult. So it's going to be interesting to see how everyone navigates these relationships."

Borelli tweeted his question and got numerous responses.

And asked about Levi's future, Borelli told E!: "I would love Levi to find the love he deserves and the love that he needs," he said. "And then on the flip side, I would love for him to stand with his power and grow as a surgeon. I would love to see him specialize. There's a lot of debate of will he specialize, where will he specialize? So I would love to get a chance to see that and I know the fans will too. I love Levi. I hope he keeps going."
