Monday January 13, 2020

Actor DJ Qualls, best known for his early 00s films like "Road Trip" and "The Core," came out as gay over the weekend.

Qualls, 41, first revealed the news while appearing on the Comedy Central program "The Jim Jeffries Show," before taking to Twitter Saturday to share his story on Twitter.

Tweeting to his 210,000 fans, Qualls wrote, "Yep, I'm gay. Been gay this whole time. Tired of worrying about what people would think of me. Tired of worrying about what it would do to my career."

His tweet has earned over 50,000 likes.

People magazine notes that Qualls first broke through with the 2000 sex comedy "Road Trip," which stars Tom Green and Sean William Scott. In the film, where Qualls plays a shy nerdy virgin, four college friends go on a 1,800-mile road trip to find an X-rated tape mistakenly sent to a girlfriend.
