R&B Singer Jessie Ware Releases New Music Video
Rising R&B singer songwriter Jessie Ware is gearing up to release her debut album "Devotion" in North America. That version, which drops April 16, has two new tracks; a remix of hit single "Wildest Moments," featuring pretty boy rapper A$AP Rocky, and the new sultry dance song, "Imagine It Was Us."
On Monday, Ware released the video for "Imagine It Was Us," directed by Kate Moross. As Pitchfork notes, the video has a possible homage to Madonna as Ware and her friends perform in a club where some patrons are wearing baroque costumes and others are nearly naked (mostly shirtless men).
Ware recently spoke to EDGE about the song and said she hopes it becomes a summer jam. She added that "Imagine It Was Us" is "verging on camp and fabulous" and that she wanted it to sound like a cross between "a fun Madonna dance song and Janet Jackson."
Ware gained some attention from the New York Times recently, after they reviewed her concert at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. The review points out Ware came from the electronic music scene but says her latest concert was on the minimal side as "there wasn't a single keyboard onstage, just a three-man band and two samplers that Ms. Ware, the guitarist Joe Newman and the drummer Dornik Leigh sometimes used to play electronic parts and backup vocals with push buttons. The music came back down to earth, and was all the better for it."
